For members who attended the lodge meeting prior to the holidays or were present in the club room when donations were collected, you are aware the lodge has been helping a local family displaced from their home. This family lost most of their belongings due to a home fire before Christmas and currently lives in temporary housing. Lodge members generously collected over a thousand dollars in one evening to assist this family and ensure that would have at least something for the holidays. The family consisting of a working mother and three young children are still struggling and in need of further assistance. They have only asked for the most basic of human needs ~ food assistance.
We are asking that everyone to bring in food items to continue to help these folks. They are currently living in temporary housing (a hotel) and have limited food preparation and storage arrangements. So items that are simple to store and easy to prepare would be helpful.
If you don’t feel like shopping the lodge will have a cash donation jar out and volunteers will shop and provide the items to the family. We will continue to accept donations at other upcoming events if you can't make it for the game. Marked boxes will be at the lodge for you to drop off items.
Canned or Pre-Packaged Goods – Canned Vegetables, Soup, Macaroni & Cheese, Fruit Cups, Peanut Butter, Pasta, Tuna, Crackers etc…
No breakfast cereal please as Rick Mechley has been providing this through generous donations by his employer General Mills
THE “GROOM” CLOSET
You have all heard of the broom closet ~ the Lodge is opening the GROOM closet. All right I gave it a really cheesy name so you would all remember it. Why else would a company have a duck selling insurance? Or maybe its a clear sign that I have been watching too much Shark Tank...
Now that I have your full attention your asking what the heck is it? The Lodge is assisting in the collection of personal care & hygiene items for children in Lebanon public schools. These items will be collected at the lodge and made available to students in need of grooming, clothing and hygiene products. These are the most basic of items that we all take for granted.
We have created a collection location at the front of the lodge where donated items can be dropped off. We are looking for things like soap, shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste and other personal grooming products. The idea is that we start a reserve of items that can be drawn on as needed. All we have to do is throw couple of extra items in our cart at the store each week and drop them off at the lodge.
